MEET THE CONDUCTOR


Faye Rader conducts, performs and teaches music in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Faye holds a Music Education degree from the Conservatory of Music at UMKC and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University. She has focused on conducting community bands since 1985 and is the founder, original conductor, and Music Director of the North Star Community Band. Faye's performance credits include the Kansas City Symphony, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Starlight Theater Orchestra, The Mannheim Steamroller Orchestra, and the Alexander Trio.

Faye is a member of the Women's Band Directors National Association, the Music Educators National Conference, Missouri Bandmasters Association, The association of Concert Bands and Past President of the Mid-America Music Association.

Ms. Rader received the 1998-99 Distinguished Band Director's Award presented by the American School Band Director's Association & United Musical Insturments. She and the "Band Buddies" program received one of ten 1996 Excellent in Teaching Grand Awards sponsored by the Learning Exchange, the Kansas City Star and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and was a 1997 recipient of the John Tesh Avalon World Tour Award.
